Heat Sink Contest.
15th avril 2005
Contest results now online.
Geekcorps Mali has a problem. We are installing computers in many community radio stations across Mali, West Africa, home of Timbuktu and the Sahara Desert, and as you might imagine, it’s hot.
We’re talking 48 degrees Celsius (118 Fahrenheit) on average in the hot season, with spikes to 55 Celsius (130 Fahrenheit) in the middle of the day. And with that heat comes dust: Particles as small as the fine dust found floating around your home to large granules of Sahara sand that collect in every unswept corner of Mali.
