Le plan de formation à l’utilisation de notre station de montage audio sous Linux développé au début du projet, proposait un cheminement logique, de la connectique de l’ordinateur, vers la gestion des fichiers sous Linux, pour terminer sur le montage audio, faisant appel à toutes les connaissances acquises.

Nous attendions l’arrivée des 25 ordinateurs afin de commencer le déploiement et la formation des radios. Partis de New-York, ils avaient été apercu a Bamako, il ne s’agissait plus que d’une question de jour avant que nous puissions lacher notre équipe de formation, ordinateurs sous le bras a l’attaque des radios de Mopti.

The seemingly simple activity of connecting Radio Guintan to a local ISP turned into a battle of will between geek and technology.
Guintan’s Bamako station is about 6.5km from our wireless ISP, Datatech, in a straight line over the tops of buildings; both sites have reasonably high masts as well. The initial connection at Guintan using a 12dB directional antenna seemed promising. The connection came straight up, the signal quality was exceptionally good. It was easy … too easy.

Despite missing hardware and a power outage lasting several days, training in Mopti ended on a high note.
We’d been waiting many weeks for our shipment of twenty-five computers to arrive, and they were already late. We hoped that they would arrive prior to our training in Mopti, but they were delayed for several more weeks, and our plan to arrive in Mopti with the computers fell through.

At a partner site, the team found high interest in, and little reluctance to, a proposal of satellite internet service.We were surprised to discover a high level of pent-up demand for internet service in Yan Folila, a small village eight hours by muddy roads southwest of Bamako.
