Une radio rurale bientôt en formation pour l’édition numérique

Radio Belekan, Kati, radio communautaire rurale, va prochainement suivre une formation a Geekcorps pour passer à l’édition numérique. Bamako, Mali — Geekcorps dans le cadre du projet USAID “Communication pour le developpement” vient de passer une convention avec Radio Belekan, Kati, pour la formation de ses journalistes, animateurs et techniciens.

Our project

Our project’s goal is to bring technology solutions to community radio stations in Mali, to increase the quality of information they have at their disposal, and to encourage sharing of information and programs between the radio stations.

Population Media Centre the focus of some attention.

Population Media Centre (PMC), a Geekcorps partner who is funded under the same grant as our program through USAID, was itself the focus of some media attention this week. PMC has a unique approach to producing and distributing development information: They do so by creating radio dramas.Read more on the following link provided by a Google news alert.

Broadband now available to residents of Bamako.

At present there are two providers offering broadband Internet service marketed for residential use, via “wireless”. Home service implies a limited bandwidth connection that is suitable for one computer connected to the Internet.

Radio Guintan Magnambougou a diffusé son 1er programme numérique

Bamako, Mali — Geekcorps dans le cadre du projet USAID Communication pour le développement a choisi comme site pilote la radio Guintan Magnambougou aussi appelée “la voix des femmes”. Un ordinateur a été installé dans les locaux de la radio et le personnel (journalistes, techniciens et animateurs) ont reçu une formation d’une semaine sur ce nouvel outil de création de programmes audio assisté par l’ordinateur.

Second radio station joins project.

19th août 2004

The second radio station has signed up for Geekcorp’s Community Radio project.
Radio Belekan in Kati has its PC rebuilt with the project’s Studio System, and training begins.

First digitally-created broadcast.

10th août 2004

The first fully digitally created program was broadcast from Radio Guintan. The program lasted 20 minutes.
