Le Samedi 31 Juillet s’est déroulé la deuxième journée “Installfest” à Schoolnet.

Le premier “Installfest s’est déroulé dans les locaux de Geekcorps à Baco Djicoroni et a regroupé les stagiaires venant de : L’université de Bamako, des journalistes, des agents d’HKI et aussi des fournisseurs de services Internet.

Après la cérémonie d’ouverture présidée par Dennis Bilodeau de USAID, les volontaires de Geekcorps, les membres de l’AMUL et les utilisateurs de Linux au Mali ceux sont mis à la tâche, c’est à dire à l’installation de la distribution Mandrake sur les ordinateurs de Schoolnet.

Yanfolila has been chosen as a site to test installation of a VSAT and to create a local WISP.
Radio Massoulou, the first USAID radio station in Mali, has been the only station in the town since its establishment six years ago. The community is incredibly supportive of the radio station, which does not disappoint them; it won the Best Program award for two years running, beating a field of 120 other radio stations throughout Mali. There is currently no Internet within 100km of Yanfolila.
